Leading the Patient Follow Up Revolution
HealthLoop Launches First Beta Sites – Revolutionizes Follow Up Care in U.S.
February 14, 2012
Mountain View, CA – HealthLoop, the leading automated follow up solution that engages physicians with their patients outside of the traditional care setting, announced the launch of its beta program this week. Among the first to use the company’s innovative solution are plastic surgeons and concierge internists.
“HealthLoop will improve patient satisfaction and care, and make follow up more effective for physicians and staff,” says founder and San Francisco internist Jordan Shlain, MD.“
The revolutionary solution uses automated feedback protocols and email to collect patient signs and symptoms, as well as send reminders and care instructions relevant to the patient’s recovery plan. Patients answer short surveys about their condition, and can send comments and photos. Patient feedback is routed through a rules engine, providing clinicians with an ‘early warning system.’ Clinicians receive email alerts when a patient is at risk of treatment failure, complication, or hospital readmission.
HealthLoop’s clinical protocols and alert rules are authored by leading physicians. Follow up protocols, known as “Loops,” can be customized, or physicians can create their own.
Over the next several months, HealthLoop plans to launch in orthopedics, cardiology, and other specialty practices.
An earlier version of HealthLoop has been used by physician early adopters for more than a year. More than 500 follow up “Loops” have been used by surgeons and internists to care for patients. Physician and patient feedback has been positive, and medical complications averted.
HealthLoop Founder Jordan Shlain, MD to Give “Sneak Peak” of Beta Version at Health 2.0
Sept 21, 2011
Entrepreneurial internist Jordan Shlain will deliver a brief demonstration of HealthLoop’s new product version at the Health2.0 Doctors 2.0 conference on Sept 25 in San Francisco.
HealthLoop is an automated follow up system that notifies physicians when a patient’s recovery is not on track, and allows them to intervene to prevent complications.
Tired of managing patient follow up using Excel spreadsheets and phone-tag, Dr. Shlain developed HealthLoop to automate and improve the efficiency of his follow up care, and create a contextual narrative with patients.
During proof of principle testing, HealthLoop facilitated more than 5,000 Medical Micro-Visits™ – virtual check-ins that allow patients to send information to their doctor about signs and symptoms during recovery. Hundreds of patients in nearly a dozen medical offices nationwide found that HealthLoop improved patient satisfaction and engagement, and averted complications. HealthLoop is launching a comprehensive beta program in the fall and has already secured commitments from multiple medical and surgical practices.
In addition to founding HealthLoop, Dr. Shlain is a practicing internist and is the President of the American Academy of Private Physicians, a commissioner for San Francisco’s $700MM healthcare budget, and a sought-after national speaker for his insights about bringing doctors and patients closer together.
